Ronald & Mary Jane got married at one of my favorite (past) venues in the heart of downtown San Antonio, Zaza Gardens. Mixing their two cultures and families together, their morning started with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at a family home. A tea ceremony is generally made up of parents, grandparents and other elders, including older brothers and sisters. The serving and drinking of tea by the older family members signifies their acceptance of the new family member into the family. Mary Jane said that the tea ceremony was much more emotional for her than the actual wedding, and these photos from Map + Compass Photography are heartwarming.
I started my day at Zaza Gardens, setting out all of Mary Jane & Ronald’s personal décor and ensuring their vendors arrived on time and knew where to set up. Mary Jane was one of the most organized brides I’ve worked with, and her vibe and aesthetic was perfect for the venue and one of my favorites from the last few years!
After getting ready with the girls it was time for some first looks! We love every kind of first look, from bridesmaids to fathers, to soon-to-be spouses. The photos always come out with such emotion and happiness!
The two celebrated their American ceremony in front of the iconic doors at the venue. Her floral choices from Flower Forrest were so eclectic and fit her theme perfectly. Honestly, it was probably the first time I saw/fell in love with pampas grass a few years ago! I know it has gained popularity the last couple of years, but it will always be a favorite textural addition to me!
These two had the coolest custom neon sign made by HiNeon, and they really did party all night long! Winston with Gaines Entertainment kept the dance floor happy for the entire reception! They had a picture-perfect sparkler exit and it really was such a wonderful, happy day filled with lots of family and love. Thank y’all for letting me be a part of your special day!
