Brook and Luke got married on a beautiful summer day at The Veranda in San Antonio. You guys, we worked with these two to plan their special day in five weeks….yes, FIVE weeks. No, they weren’t rushing to the altar, but these two had plans for a destination wedding in St. Lucia, and when the resort was not going to re-open any time soon due to COVID, she called us and we got to work! It was really special for me to be able to work with them, as I had done 3 other weddings in their family/friend group, starting with Andrea and Cullen in July 2018, Tasha and Troy last December, and Kyndal and John just a month before, in June! Check out their blog here! Every time I get to see this group it’s always like a reunion, and I knew we’d be in for a fun night, and they didn’t disappoint!
We absolutely love working with The Veranda, and in this case it was SO helpful because they provided the venue, tables, chairs, linens, catering, and bar – talk about an all-inclusive package! The paletas they provided were a perfect late-night treat; I think guests loved them just as much as the delicious cakes from Cakes & More Bakeshop. Luke’s groom’s cake was perfect for the two of them, as they met at UTSA where Luke was the captain of the Quidditch team. When he explained how to play and told Brook she should try out, she said she had so much fun and it was a bonus because she got to see him twice a week at practice/games😉
The day of their wedding, the forecast continuously called for rain, so we had to make the call to move the ceremony under the covered veranda, which turned out to be a beautiful plan B. It was a sweet, personal ceremony as Brook’s grandfather married the two of them. It may not have been the beach they originally imagined, but the greenery and openness of the venue paired with the perfect floral from HEB Blooms complemented the bridal party attire and it looked like a summer soirée that was always meant to be!
After the ceremony the group moved into cocktail hour and portraits. And would you look at those chic little custom cups from Girl General?! They matched the invitation suite created by them as well! While Andrea & Cullen couldn’t make the big day because they were about to have their first little baby girl, Cece, it was great to see Tasha, Troy, Kyndal and John again. Now that that sweet baby is here, it’s time for a group happy hour, don’t ya think?!
Fun fact – the close-up photo of Brook & Luke was taken by the amazingly talented Amber from Allison Jeffers Associates while we were bustling Brook’s dress! Because we value our timeline (and gorgeous photos like these!), Amber suggested we bustle and she could get some detail, close-up shots and it worked like a charm! So brilliant!
We knew this was a fun group who LOVE to dance and have a good time, and they did not disappoint one bit. From their choreographed first dance to the groom getting iced during the garter removal, to the literal dance battle that these guys threw down, it.was.epic. Our friend Phil with 5150 kept the dance floor full and bumping all night long!
We asked Brook some questions about their special day, and here’s what she said:
My favorite moments were getting ready with the girls, seeing Luke for the first time when I walked down the aisle, our first dance, and dancing all night with everyone, including my parents and grandparents. Everyone involved with decorating did such an amazing job. I had no guidelines and it still turned out so perfectly. I had so many people tell me they loved the food, and everyone had a lot of fun with the photo booth.
I think throughout the day I was the happiest I have ever been. I didn’t get a chance to really think about that until the end of the day and it felt so good riding in the limo together on the way to the hotel and reflecting on the day and how happy we were. With all the added stress of having to reschedule the wedding so many times I felt like a huge burden had been lifted and I could rest now that it had happened and it was a huge success.
Congratulations again you two – we had the best time working together on your special day. Now let’s go have a margarita!
